WORSHIP

In his classic book on missions, Let the Nations Be Glad! John Piper wrote:

"Missions is not the ultimate goal of the church. Worship is. Missions exists because worship doesn’t."

Worship is the fuel and goal of missions. It’s the goal of missions because in missions we simply aim to bring the nations into the white-hot enjoyment of God’s glory. But worship is also the fuel of missions. Passion for God in worship precedes the offer of God in preaching. You can’t commend what you don’t cherish.

Leading believers to long for and enter into “the white-hot enjoyment of God’s glory” is our goal for corporate worship at McIlwain Presbyterian Church.

Worship at McIlwain is centered on the Word of God. As well-stated by Dr. J. Ligon Duncan, in proper biblical worship we "read the Bible, preach the Bible, pray the Bible, sing the Bible and see the Bible."

We employ historic and Reformed Creeds, use a variety of styles and instrumentation, sing Psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, and are led in worship by the ministry of our Sanctuary Choir.
