“I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth.” 3 John 4
McIlwain Children’s Ministries
Children and parents always welcome. Servants always appreciated!
McIlwain has always made a priority of telling the next generation the wonders of Christ’s love. The Christian Education
and Discipleship Committee of the church oversees the efforts of Sunday School and Wednesday night programs to
bring Biblical truth to precious young lives. Children’s ministries works with the CED Committee to help children connect with their
church family, the living Word, and their Creator & King.
Sunday School classes for children span toddler to 6th Grade. All classes benefit from Great Commission Publications
curriculum distributed through the Presbyterian Church in America. See the Sunday School class
schedules for Spring (March - May 2007) and Summer (June - August 2007)
for more information.
Wednesday nights offer a more relaxed teaching environment with special emphasis on building relationships and Bible skills.
Currently, a Gospel Light curriculum is used to present the time line of the Bible for younger elementary students. Third grade through sixth grade
do in-depth studies of books of the Bible. Class time is 6:15 - 7:30 in the Knox Building (also called the Kids Connection building).
Preschool to 1st Grade are taught by Mrs. Katherine Clarke in Knox Room 103.
2nd to 3rd Grade are taught by Mrs. Cheryl Smith and Mrs. Nancy Timbrook in Knox Room 104.
4th to 6th Grade meet upstairs in the Knox Building.
A council is being formed to oversee this vital ministry. For questions or to get involved, please
contact children@mcilwain.org. The Christian Education and Discipleship Committee meets
on the first Monday of the month at 6:30p.m. in the Graham Building conference room. The committee is chaired by elder Rusty Gross.
